Boomer and Dash on the Beach

I know, I know, another one of those “dog on beach” posts… but you know what? To go on the beach on a beautiful day is just always so great, it gives you this uplifting feeling, and to do it with your buddies, your dogs, just makes it even more so. So you have the privilege to watch another one of my dog videos! ;-) Also, I am toying around with videos at the moment, I want to get more into video blogging, so these are all tests, and learning curves. And my dogs are the perfect subject, I reckon!

This morning I met a friend at CY O’Connor Beach south of Fremantle. It’s a great beach for dogs, and you can take nice long walks along the shore. It was 36 Degrees Celsius and the water was crystal clear and azure blue, there weren’t many waves and we even saw a few dolphins playing (no sharks, thank God!!). Just another one of those perfect mornings on the beach!

Anyway, this video was taken on that beach, but just not today, I think it was last week. Today I did not have my camera with me. Hope you enjoy it!

Ah, before I forget, also if you enjoy Christmas beach decor, please check out these great Christmas beach decorations!

Dog On Beach – Meet My Dash

Hi all,

you all know that I love the beach – I like to go there as often as I can. I also have 2 dogs which I take to the dog beach occasionally. One of them (my big boy Boomer) absolutely loves going into the water to swim and fetch his ball, the other one (my little girl Dash) is just the opposite – she usually sits on the towel like a princess and avoids getting her feet wet.

Of course, sometimes we can’t resist to take her into the water with us, something she absolutely despises! Every time we do that, she feels very sorry for herself after…

Have a look for yourself – meet my Dash!

Shark Near Shore!

Well, well, well, we have had a bit of a disturbance here where I live – someone caught a 2.7m Tiger Shark right here near our beautiful beaches where we swim with our kids during the day, not even 2km away! Have a look at the story about a Shark Near Shore and have a look at the (kind of frightening) picture:

Shark Near Shore

Shark ON Shore!

And as it so happened, my husband and my son were actually at the scene on that night to do a little fishing (!!!), and they saw the angler bring in the shark. It was all very exciting for my 9 year old.

But whether you believe it or not, even though I hate sharks, I still feel kind of sorry for this fella, as it looks like he has gone through a fair bit of suffering before he found his end. I do not wish a death like that to any living creature.

As beautiful and peaceful the beach can be, there are other things lurking beneath the surface that might not be all so pretty! Thank God we only see the beautiful side of it most of the time. Will I keep going in the water with my kids? You bet! Now that the shark is gone…. (hahaha). Yes, but only up to my waist, honestly. I don’t want to be shark bait! :)

A Stormy Beach Can Lift Your Heart

Stormy Beach

Stormy Beach

Just a couple of weeks ago we had pretty bad weather here in Perth. It was very windy, and even though the sun shone through the storm clouds occasionally, we still had a lot of rain and stormy weather.

At 5 o’clock in the afternoon, just as the day started getting a little less light, I suddenly had this urge to go outside and RUN. Now, I have always been quite sporty, but I haven’t been running for quite some time. And I had not been doing much sport for quite a while either. Nevertheless I had this feeling that I had to get out into the strong wind with a possible shower and a little bit of sun and get my blood pumping and my thoughts and lethargy blown away.

Naturally my run led me straight down to the beach. I had my ipod with my favorite music going. Just before I got down to the beach I had to stop at the toilet block near the playground to shelter from a strong shower. When it was blown over, I went on and got down to the water.

I was the only person on the beach. The waves were pretty high. The sun was close to setting behind a lot of clouds, but you could see it shining through in yellow orange. The wind nearly blew me away. And my favorite tunes were playing in my ear. It was TOTALLY UPLIFTING, MIND-CHANGING, AWESOMELY BEAUTIFUL. I stood facing the water and the sunset with my arms outstretched to the side. Like I wanted to embrace the whole world. I took deep breaths. And felt like I was cleansed, uplifted, and everything was all right. I felt so small, but so fullfilled at the same time.

I started running, jumping, dancing along the beach, from one jetty to the other. I can’t describe the feeling. I went totally wild – there was nobody to watch and think how crazy I was! ;) The only encounter I had was with a flock of pelicans on the beach. It was EERIE – the wind, the sun, the clouds, the beach, the waves, the pelicans, especially when one lifted up in the air and sailed on the wind not 4 meters away from me. I never felt so close to nature.

Needless to say that this was the best run I ever had in my entire life. I felt cleansed, revived, calm, ready to take on the world when I came back home. The stormy beach had lifted my heart.

P.S. The beach in the picture is not “my” beach; unfortunately I did not carry a camera with me at the time. If I did, I think the experience would not have been as great as it was, as I would have been concentrating on taking a picture of the beach and the pelicans.
